“Beyond the Books and Makeup” (An Interview)

An Interview With: Leanne Gagnon

LeanneGagnon found Facebook in 2007 and like many others found a few friends and family members then started to play the games.  One day after reading a great book she decided to try and find the author online and add her.
Then she made friends through the games she played and added more author friends.  Then 1 day she saw a post about through one of her many “LIKES” www.makeupgeek.com which led her to discovering other women who loved makeup and she dived into learning more about why, where and how to do it.
Not long after this another Facebook post intrigued her. An online party at “Beyond Her Book” that she was hooked into in seconds.
Through the group she became inspired and started blogging. Then a book idea hit her and she began to write.  Through blogging she reviews books, products and has guest authors.  She even has friends reviewing on her site.  She adores it.
So this mom of 2 school aged children, wife and makeup fanatic went from being bored to very, very busy and loving it.
She is now working on becoming a published author, making her blog as popular as possible. She is also taking makeup jobs on and off.
She counts herself very lucky to be among so many talented people on Facebook who inspire her to go bigger and think bigger.

You can find her at Facebook, and at her website. Also, check out her Reading Makeup Facebook page.

1. How did you first becomea member of BHBP?

I was on Facebook and I saw an announcement for a party on a book blog. I went to check it out andnext thing I knew I was chatting it up like I had known everyone all my life. It was wonderful!

2. did you find the group welcoming ?

I found the group amazing and extremely friendly and welcoming.

3. how did their interests coincide with yours ?

Many people had the same interests as I did and many didn’t but that’s what made it fun. I got to learn so many new things and Iactually came to like some books I would have never read before.

4. did you gain inspiration from the group and how?

I gained tons of inspiration. Thanks to all the wonderful people that I get to chat with in the group I wrote a novella. I was always horrible in school, I never wrote stories growing up or anything and I only found a love for books at the age of 15. For me to write a novella was beyond anything.I also started a book blog out of the blue and all the ideas and wonderful things I have accomplished this year online is because of the awesome friendship and inspiration I received from the group.

5. what things has the group inspired you to do that you wouldn’t have done before?

As I said in question 4. I have written a Novella and a short story. I made a blog and I have guest authors, book reviews, makeup tips and trick and even some of my day to day life. That’s not all I even do Commercial product reviews now to. All of it is thanks to joining “Beyond her Book.”

6. do you feel the friendships you have made are lasting ?

I really have! I have so many more friends that I honestly care about and think about. If they are hurt or something is wrong; I worry about them. When something significant in my life happens I want to share it with all of them right away. Each and every one of them is special and they mean a lot to me and their friendship I know will last a lifetime.

7. how has the group expanded your horizons ?

I now have friends all over the world and I’m constantly learning something new from them. Thanks to the group I am now friends with many many unbelievably talented authors and never would I have thought that I could just send a message tothem when I had a question and they would answer.
I just want to say that “Beyond Her Book” group has the most magnificent people I have ever met. Each of them are unique, caring, intelligent and giving. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to be apart of and I am so thankful that they accepted me to join them. I am truly humbled to be among so many wonderful people.
